Accountant Recruitment Agencies in the UAE: How to Choose

By CA Ketul Patel, Founder, Accounting Baba  ·  2026-10-18

Short answer: UAE employers hiring accountants usually choose between three kinds of agency: large international recruiters, UAE-based recruitment firms and small specialists. Large firms suit big companies and searches across many functions. A specialist suits a company of up to about 100 people that wants a direct line to the person running the search. Whichever you use, recruitment is a paid service for the employer, so ask how the fee works before you start.

The Three Kinds of Agency

UAE employers choose between large international recruiters, UAE-based recruitment firms and specialist boutiques; each suits a different size of company and role.

Seven Questions to Ask Any Agency Before You Pay

Before you pay any agency, ask how the fee works, what is paid upfront, where candidates come from, who screens them and what happens if the hire leaves.

  1. How is the fee worked out, and when is it due? A percentage of annual salary, a fixed fee and one month’s salary are all common.
  2. Is anything paid before work starts? If so, is it adjusted against the fee, and is any of it returned if the role is not filled?
  3. Where do the candidates come from? The agency’s database, a job advert, or people approached at companies you name?
  4. Who screens the candidates, and how? Ask whether anyone with an accounting qualification reviews a profile before you see it.
  5. How many profiles, and how fast?
  6. What happens if the hire leaves early? Ask for the replacement period in writing.
  7. Will they hire locally, from abroad, or both? Most UAE employers want people already in the country.
